A chamfer, a round bead, a cove – a profiled edge has to look the same along its whole length and match the surface in gloss. Without a base and a fixed height, the profile depends on a steady hand. Even small deviations show up as a wave along a long window sill or stair tread – and can hardly be corrected in the following grits.
A grinding tool that only rotates easily leaves streaks on the edge. On the finished, polished visible edge they stand out at once.
Grinding granite edges dry produces fine dust containing quartz. Bound by water, it stays in the slurry – for that, the water has to reach exactly the edge.
The felt base plate rests on the surface, the stepless height adjustment up to 25 mm sets the profile exactly. The Contour Cat takes profile cutters up to Ø 118 mm and cutting discs up to Ø 180 mm, and grinds up to 60 mm high. Water comes from inside via the flush head and from outside via two jointed hoses.
The GADIA Cyli cylinders take you through the grits without gaps: for granite and marble G50, G100, R200, R400, R800, for engineered stone from Q200. They run on the Contour Cat KS 80 and KS 80 BL with the GADIA Oscillator or the GADIA RS grinding head.
R1500, R3000 and the polisher bring out the gloss. The patented GADIA Oscillator grinding head adds a vertical stroke to the rotation – for streak-free, high-quality visible edges.
If no profile is needed but a straight, precisely square 90° edge, the Polifox KP wet edge polisher does the job – also on thin slabs, up to 30 mm (KP80) or 50 mm (KP100) slab thickness.
Both Contour Cat machines mill, grind and polish profiles wet, with height adjustment up to 25 mm and grinding height up to 60 mm. For straight 90° edges there is the Polifox KP.
