Wet polishing with no electricity at the machine: pneumatic wet polishers for stone

When wet polishing, water and grinding slurry run over the stone – and with an electric machine a cable runs right through it. With the AIR POLIFOX there is no electricity at the machine during wet work: no PRCD and no isolating transformer needed. Three models for polishing tools up to Ø 100, 130 and 150 mm, run on 6 bar compressed air.

What matters here

  • Electricity and water in the same place

When wet polishing, the cable of an electric machine runs through water and grinding slurry – and depending on the version it needs a PRCD or an isolating transformer.

  • Angle grinder with a water hose

An angle grinder with a pad and a hose held next to it is not a wet machine: there is no water feed through the spindle and no splash guard, the water reaches the pad unevenly and the motor easily.

  • Dry polishing means quartz dust

Doing without water and polishing dry puts the fine dust into the workshop. Wet, it stays in the slurry.

Step by step

  1. Check the compressed air

The AIR POLIFOX machines work at 6 bar operating pressure and use approx. 1,200 l/min (20 l/s) per machine. The air must be oiled (max. 5 drops per m³/min), dried via a water separator and filtered. A 3 m air hose with 9 mm inner Ø is included.

Note: A service unit and lubricator for the compressed air are available in the shop as accessories to the machine.

  2. Connect the water

Water regulating valve and 2.5 m water hose with brass quick coupling are included. Where there is no water connection, the portable 10-litre pressure tank supplies the wet machine, complete with hose and quick coupling.

Note: The AIR POLIFOX is designed only for wet operation – never run it without water supply.

  3. Choose pad and holder

GADIA Resin Premium for wet grinding comes in Ø 80, 100 and 125 mm, on a velcro holder with M14. The machine’s maximum tool Ø must suit the pad size: Air Polifox 800 up to Ø 100 mm, 902 up to Ø 130 mm, 1002 up to Ø 150 mm.

  4. Polish through the grits

The Air Polifox 800 runs at 3,400 rpm, matched to resin wet pads up to Ø 100 mm; the Air Polifox 902 and 1002 work at 2,000 rpm. Silencer and rear exhaust keep the workplace quieter.

Which AIR POLIFOX for which job?

All three polish wet with compressed air, M14 spindle thread, D-handle and water regulating valve.

Polished dark marble surface with a white vein

Water on the stone, power elsewhere

The compressed air drive keeps electricity away from the machine. The water stays where it belongs: at the pad.

What you need with it

Wet pads in grit sequence, a vibration-damping velcro holder and – without a water connection – the pressure tank. Plus a compressed air supply with 6 bar and oiled, filtered air.

Frequently asked questions

Polisher with compressed air or electric – which fits?

With compressed air there is no electricity at the machine during wet work – no PRCD and no isolating transformer needed, but a compressed air supply with 6 bar and approx. 1,200 l/min per machine. The electric POLIFOX machines work with a PRCD at any socket or with a CEE plug on the TT 2602 isolating transformer, many with speed in 7 settings A–G.

Which compressed air do I need?

Operating pressure 6 bar, air consumption approx. 1,200 l/min (20 l/s) per machine, oiled air (max. 5 drops per m³/min), dried via a water separator and filtered. What matters is that your compressed air supply delivers this volume at 6 bar.

Which pads fit the AIR POLIFOX?

Pads for wet grinding such as GADIA Resin Premium in Ø 80, 100 or 125 mm, on a velcro holder with M14. The Air Polifox 800 takes tools up to Ø 100 mm, the 902 up to Ø 130 mm, the 1002 up to Ø 150 mm.

Can I also polish dry with compressed air?

Not with the AIR POLIFOX – it is built only for wet operation. For dry grinding with compressed air there is the AIR GENIUS, for example the Air Genius 800 for resin dry pads up to Ø 100 mm.

How loud is a pneumatic wet polisher?

The AIR POLIFOX machines have a sound pressure level of 81 dB(A) and a sound power level of 92 dB(A) – hearing protection is mandatory. Silencer and rear exhaust make for quiet, controlled work.

What is included?

3 m air hose with 9 mm inner Ø, water regulating valve, 2.5 m water hose with brass quick coupling and D-handle. Service unit and lubricator are not included; they are available as accessories.
